SUSPENSION OF SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
(update as of 13th March 2020)
Dear Brothers & Sisters of Wesley KL
As you are aware from recent news, religious places of worship have become high-risk places for the
spread of COVID-19. Our PM has advised us to avoid large gatherings including large scale religious
events.
We have close to 1000 people gathering in our premises every Sunday. As a church, we have a
responsibility to play our part in protecting our worshipers and our society as a whole.
Therefore, as painful as it may be, we will be suspending our weekly Sunday Worship service (both
9am and 5pm services) for the month of March, beginning this Sunday, 15th March 2020. The
situation will be reviewed from time to time. Though we may not be able to gather weekly as a
community to worship the Lord, I would like to encourage families (and friends) to gather together in
homes on Sundays to continue worshiping and fellowshiping together. To aid such worship, we
will provide a simple liturgy guide for worship and a short video message for each Sunday. Please
download the guide and video from our website: http://klwesley.org (to be made available by 15th
March)
In addition to the Sunday Worship services, all other church activities and gatherings of more than
30 people will also be suspended.
However, I encourage the Small Groups to continue meeting, as it is a closed group with a limited
number of people. In the absence of fellowship among the wider community, the continuous
encouragement and fellowship of believers within a smaller group becomes ever more vital. It is
within these groups that we continue to edify one another during these challenging times.
Please refer to our website (http://klwesley.org) for periodic updates from the church as the
situation may change from day to day.
We remember the words of the Psalmist:
Psalm 91:5-9 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that
flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness … 9 Because you have
made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place
May we continue to find assurance in our Lord in the midst of uncertainties.
With Love,
Pastor Andrew Lim
