Our Faith Statement is:
“We are a connectional Methodist church based on faith in God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit – three in One God or the Holy Trinity.
Our intention is spreading scriptural holiness which entails more than personal holiness. We believe the love of God is always linked with love of neighbour, passion for justice and renewal in the life of the world.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit we engage in vibrant worship as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Through nurturing programs for holistic growth, our members may become mature in Christ and be actively involved in serving God in the world.”
What We Believe In
We believe in one God who is infinite in wisdom, power and love
We believe in Jesus, the Christ – the promised Messiah and Deliverer, our saviour and the saviour of the world.
We believe in the Holy Spirit as God present with us for guidance, comfort and strength.
We believe in the reality of sin and in the forgiveness of sin.
We believe in the word of God contained in the Old and New Testament as the sufficient rule both of faith and of practice.
We believe in the church as a community of faith and love, and as a fellowship for worship, study and service of all of God who are united to the living Lord.
Kingdom of God
We believe in the kingdom of God as the divine rule in human society.
We believe in the final triumph of righteousness and the life everlasting.
Principles of Methodism
We believe that God endows each person with dignity and moral responsibility.
We believe in the primacy of grace – God’s self-giving love bestowed upon us quite apart from our having deserved it.
We believe that a decisive change in our lives can and does occur, prompted by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Faith and Works
We believe that faith and good works belong together. What we believe must be confirmed by what we do.
The Methodist Church is part of the Church universal and includes people of all races and cultures, people and disabled conditions, people of all ages – children, youth and adults.
Our local churches are part of a connectional system -in essence a network of interdependent relationships among persons and groups throughout the life of the whole denomination.
The Methodist Church recognizes with many other Protestant churches the two sacraments ordained by Christ – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Learn Who We Are
Established in 1897, we are a church with a rich history. Our God-given mission is “Witnessing for Christ in the Heart of our nation’s capital”.
